The Inaugural Post

Last year, my family of 4 plus one yellow dog took a hiking trip over memorial day weekend.  It was one of the best experiences we've had as a family and I wanted so much to share it with others.  We hiked, got caught in a rain storm, we camped, we thought we heard bears, we hiked and camped again....and it was an amazing weekend.  But I kept it all to myself and shared it via facebook here and there - but only the photos were really "for the taking".  The stories, the laughter, our thoughts and all of the moments between the photos were left in the woods and the corners of our memories.

Not that I don't trust my memory but sometimes, after I'm a certain distance from a moment, the exact thoughts and feelings fall too far away for me to really experience when I look through the photos.  I want to preserve all of the moments we share as a family - to never forget how wonderful it feels to go on an adventure with the ones I love.

Fast forward 10 months - we are planning a family vacation to London and Paris and I fully intend to be present and experience my time with my family, but I want to preserve my reflections and the minutia of the day.  One day, I know I'll look back and think of every thought and breath and moment together as something so much bigger than minutia.  Welcome to our blog, where I commit to keeping our adventures and our journey as a family.  Thank you for joining "The Adventuresmiths" as we make our way though Europe and Asia and all of our travels, but most importantly, through our life as a family loving every moment of our time together.

I wish you peace...until our next adventure <3
